Keto replacement for egg noodles
As a newbie to keto I'm finding lots of new ingredients to try and of course finding replacements to staple ingredients can be a challenge. Egg noodles are a classic noodle used in Chinese and other Asian noodle dishes. So looking for an alternative has been interesting.
What are egg noodles
Egg noodles are a type of pasta that includes eggs in the dough. Typically, the basic ingredients for egg noodles are wheat flour, eggs, and salt. Some recipes might also include water or milk, and occasionally a raising agent such as baking powder.
Egg noodles tend to have a softer texture and a richer flavor than pasta made without eggs. They come in various shapes and sizes, from thin, delicate strands to wide, flat ribbons.
Egg noodles can be part of a healthy diet, but like any food, they should be consumed in moderation and as part of a balanced diet.
WARNING: However due to their high carb content they should be avoided on a keto diet if at all possible. As well as being high in carbs, egg noodles are relatively high in calories.
Soybean noodle alternative
Soybean noodles are a type of pasta made primarily from soybean flour, which is derived from ground soybeans. They are a gluten-free alternative to traditional wheat-based noodles and are popular among those who follow keto, gluten-free, vegetarian, or vegan diets.
I live in Australia and found these soybean spaghetti produced by a company called Slendier. Depending on where you live you should be able to find a similar soybean spaghetti with a bit of a search.
Of course from a keto point of view it's all about the carbs and this soybean spaghetti reduced carbs by 87%. Based on a 100g serving carbs are reduced from 25g down to 3.3g. A truly outstanding reduction in carbs.
